Agricultural Extension System analyzes India’s major reform initiatives implemented to create a broad-based demand-driven, and holistic agricultural extension system. Sarthak Chowdhury is an erudite personality in the academic world of social sciences and related disciplines. He served as Principal (Adhyaksha), Palli Siksha Bhavana (Institute of Agriculture), Visva-Bharati, and also as Head of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Agricultural Economics, and Agricultural Statistics, Visva-Bharati. He began his academic career as a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) at Banaras Hindu University. He has more than three decades of experience in teaching, research, extension, and academic management. He has supervised the doctoral work of ten PhD scholars from different disciplines of the social sciences. To his credit, he has authored ten books, including three edited volumes, and published over 150 research and other professional papers. He has organized several national conferences and chaired numerous scientific sessions. His areas of specialization include development communication, project appraisal, and farming situation–based extension.
Debabrata Mondal is a young academician and researcher in the field of extension education and allied disciplines. He completed his PhD at Visva-Bharati with an excellent academic track record. He has published around 30 research papers in national and international peer-reviewed journals and has also contributed eight book chapters to edited volumes. He has authored four books and has participated in six national and international seminars and conferences. He has served as Editor of the Journal of Nutrition (Canada) and the Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics & Sociology, and is a member of the editorial boards of the Journal of Ecology & Natural Resources, Journal of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, and the International Journal of Current Microbiology and Applied Sciences. He is also a member of the Indian Society of Extension Education, the Disaster and Gender Network (UK), Global Research and Development Service, and the Agricultural Economics Research Association (AERA). His areas of interest include disaster management, human resource management in agriculture, Panchayati Raj institutions, sustainable development, ICT in agricultural extension, and the extension system in India.
