The resurgence of fungal infections and their mistreatment is probably a lesson for the clinicians to refocus on traditional dermatology. India happens to be the Epicentre of fungal infections with marked increase in dermatophytoses. This brief text highlights the basics and focuses on proper diagnosis and treatment of recalcitrant dermatophytoses. Each chapter lays stress on clinical manifestations and management. A large number of clinical images has been incorporated.
Kabir Sardana, MD, DNB, MNAMS, is Director-Professor and Head of the Department of Dermatology and STDs at ABVIMS and Dr. RML Hospital, New Delhi. He previously served as Professor at Maulana Azad Medical College (2006–2016) and Assistant Professor at Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalya (2005–2006). An alumnus of MAMC and MD from Lady Hardinge Medical College, he is a DNB holder and Fellow of the National Academy of Medical Sciences.
Dr. Sardana has authored over 280 PubMed-indexed papers and numerous books on dermatology, infectious diseases, systemic drugs, and dermatological immunopathogenesis. His works include Lasers and Energy Devices in Aesthetic Practice, Handbook of Pigmentary Disorders, Clinical Approach to Acne Vulgaris, Systemic Drugs in Dermatology, and Textbook of Dermatology and STDs with HIV Infections. He is also editor of Jopling's Handbook of Leprosy (8th edition), focusing on simplifying complex topics through clear text and illustrative diagrams for students and practitioners.

Dr. Pooja Arora Mrig is Professor in the Department of Dermatology and STDs at ABVIMS and Dr. RML Hospital, New Delhi. She completed her MBBS (2003) and MD (2008) from Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) and obtained her DNB in 2009, earning a gold medal. She is a member of the IADVL Academy and has authored approximately 70 publications in national and international journals, as well as multiple book chapters. Her primary interests include clinical dermatology and therapeutics, pigmentary disorders, infections, and lasers.
Khushbu Mahajan, MD
is currently working as a Consultant Dermatologist at Mahajan Skin Centre and Kubba Skin Clinic, Delhi. She completed her MBBS, MD, and Senior Residency from Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, and has also served as Associate Professor in the Department of Dermatology at NDMC Medical College and Hindu Rao Hospital, Delhi.
She has authored more than 25 publications in national and international journals and has contributed chapters to reputed dermatology textbooks. She has presented papers at national and international conferences and received a grant from the Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists, and Leprologists (IADVL) to attend the World Congress of Dermatology held in Seoul, Korea, in 2011. She was awarded the PM Varghese Award for the most compassionate house surgeon in a clinical specialty in 2007 and the Prof. V. N. Sehgal Medal for excellence in MD (Dermatology, including Leprosy and STD) in 2010 by Maulana Azad Medical College.
