This new Edition is larger than its predecessors in spite of the most careful pruning and avoidance of repetition. This is because it gives an up-to-date account of all the most important diseases met at the present time and because there are many more Tables there are now 274 Illustrations (in a number of illustrations two or three colours have been used). There are 23 Plates some in colour. Some chapters have been almost entirely rewritten-for instance those dealing with the Lungs and Pleura the Skin Hair and Nails and the Central Nervous System. Elsewhere there are many changes: for the first time the medical aspects of diseases of the eyes and of the ears are given special chapters of their own but always written in the Savill tradition.
