Earlier, he served as Assistant Professor at Dr. Shankarrao Chavan Government Medical College, Nanded, Maharashtra. He completed his MBBS from Calcutta National Medical College and MD (Microbiology) from TN Medical College & BYL Nair Hospital, Mumbai. His areas of interest include parasitology, molecular microbiology, and immunology.
