SS Gupta is former Principal Chief Engineer, Indian Railways. Mr Gupta has obtained degree in Civil Engineering from Malaviya Regional Engineering College (now Malaviya National Institute of Technology), Jaipur, in 1980. He joined CPWD in 1982 and Indian Railways in 1983 after qualifying Engineering Services Examinations conducted by UPSC. Since then, he has worked in different positions as Dy Chief Engineer, Director (bridges and structures)/RDSO, Chief Engineer (construction), Chief Bridge Engineer, Divisional Railway Manager and Executive Director in Indian Railways. Mr Gupta was honoured with General Manager Award in 1993,1994 and 1997, for his outstanding contribution to gauge conversion projects of Western Railway. He is recipient of KC Sood Memorial Award in 2008 and 2012 for best technical papers. Mr Gupta is also popular as a recreational mathematician and has authored two books, Creative Puzzles to Ignite Your Mind and Exploring the Beauty of Fascinating Numbers. SP Gupta, PhD (Civil Engineering) is former Director of Global Institute of Technology, Jaipur (2012) and previously Principal of the institute for 9 years. He retired from Malaviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur, as Professor and Head of the Department of Structural Engineering. He earned his B.E. in Civil Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering (1965), M.E. in Structural Engineering from Delhi University (1970), and PhD from University of Rajasthan (1985). Dr. Gupta has over 25 research publications and co-authored books including Structural Analysis: A Matrix Approach, Theory of Structures, and Prestressed Concrete. He has served as Chairman of Academic Affairs and Professor Incharge for Admissions and Examinations.
