SS Gupta
is former Principal Chief Engineer, Indian Railways. Mr Gupta has obtained degree in Civil Engineering from Malaviya Regional Engineering College (now Malaviya National Institute of Technology), Jaipur, in 1980. He joined CPWD in 1982 and Indian Railways in 1983 after qualifying Engineering Services Examinations conducted by UPSC. Since then, he has worked in different positions as Dy Chief Engineer, Director (bridges and structures)/RDSO, Chief Engineer (construction), Chief Bridge Engineer, Divisional Railway Manager and Executive Director in Indian Railways. Mr Gupta was honoured with General Manager Award in 1993,1994 and 1997, for his outstanding contribution to gauge conversion projects of Western Railway. He is recipient of KC Sood Memorial Award in 2008 and 2012 for best technical papers.
