It aims to provide a helping hand to experts connected directly or indirectly with medicolegal work, i.e. postgraduate students of forensic medicine and toxicology, medical officers entrusted with medicolegal postmortems, police officers, magistrates, lawyers, and members of judiciary. The contributors and editors of the book have focused on providing brief, practical field-based information to deal with the subject in a simple and easy-to-understand manner with photographs, wherever possible. This type of publication is not available currently and the Manual is needed to properly guide issues related to forensic pathology in a uniform manner across the country.
Swapnil Sudhirkumar Agarwal, MD, DNB, MNAMS, is currently Professor and Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology at Pramukhswami Medical College and Shree Krishna Hospital, Karamsad, Anand, Gujarat, and serves as Controller (Academics) at Bhaikaka University. He completed his MD in Forensic Medicine and Toxicology from Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat, and obtained his DNB (Forensic Medicine) from the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi, in 2002.
He has professional experience across three different states, with exposure to diverse medicolegal setups. His over 20 years of experience spans forensic medicine, human research ethics, student affairs, health professions education, and bioethics.
He is trained in Good Clinical Practice (GCP), serves as an Assessor with the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH) for ethics committees in clinical trials, and holds certification in Analytical Toxicology from AIMS, Kochi. He has served as Director of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell at his current university and is the Chairperson of Institutional Ethics Committees.
He has authored books, contributed chapters to multi-authored volumes, published research papers in national and international journals, and delivered guest lectures and presentations at national and international seminars.
