Venkateswaran K Iyer

Venkateswaran Iyer, MD trained in pathology at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. He completed a fellowship in pediatric pathology at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, UK, a fellowship in cytopathology at AIIMS, and served as consultant histopathologist at PGI Chandigarh before joining the Department of Pathology, AIIMS. A consultant cytopathologist for over 14 years, he is currently Professor of Pathology. His primary areas of interest include cytopathology and molecular pathology of Wilms tumor. He has published more than 140 research papers and has led multiple research projects on cervical cancer screening methods suitable for developing countries, including HPV testing on self-collected samples, cervical acid phosphatase staining, and HPV testing on cervical smear scrapings. He pioneered liquid-based cytology using ThinPrep in India from his laboratory.

Priya Ganesh Kumar

Priya Ganesh Kumar, MD, DGO is Medical Director of Sainiwas Health Care, India. She was the first to introduce advanced colposcopy and treatment of cervical precancerous lesions in Thane, Mumbai, Maharashtra. An IARC/WHO/FOGSI-certified colposcopy trainer, she practices as a preventive oncologist, colposcopist, and gynec laparoscopic surgeon. She has trained over 500 gynecologists across India with hands-on colposcopy programs. She has performed more than 50,000 colposcopies, prevented over 5,000 hysterectomies, and treated more than 5,000 precancerous lesions using cryotherapy and LEEP. She is the official master trainer for courses in colposcopy, VIA, and preventive oncology under the National Health Mission, Government of Madhya Pradesh, Ayushman Bharat. She is the author of Colposcopy in Practical Gynaecology, 2nd edition (CBS Publishers), has published in international journals, contributed chapters to FOGSI Focus, serves as a reviewer for JOGI and FOGSI journals, and is a PhD guide at Bharati Vidyapeeth.
