Dr. Niranjan Chavan is currently Professor and Unit Chief in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital and Medical College, Mumbai. He has been a teacher for MS, MD, DGO, and MBBS students for the past 28 years and serves as an examiner for theory and practical examinations conducted by MUHS, KUHS, RGUHS, and Mumbai University.
He received advanced training in endoscopy at the Royal Free Hospital, Hampstead, UK, under Dr. Adam Magos, and holds a Diploma in Endoscopy from Staten Island, New York, USA (35 credit hours). He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in national and international journals and has delivered several orations, keynote addresses, and guest lectures at national and international conferences.
He has served as Chairperson, FOGSI Oncology Committee (2012–2014); Convener, FOGSI Violence Against Doctors Cell (2015–2016); and is presently Secretary, Mumbai Obstetric and Gynaecological Society (MOGS), and Premises Secretary, Association of Fellow Gynaecologists (AFG) (2019–2020). He has received several national and international awards from obstetrics and gynaecology organizations and is the only Indian member on the editorial boards of the European Journal of Gynaecologic Oncology and Clinical and Experimental Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Avinash De Sousa, PPM, MPhil (Psychology), MS (Psychotherapy and Counselling), MBA, PsyD, MS
Dr. Avinash De Sousa is the Founder Trustee and Consultant Psychiatrist at the De Sousa Foundation, a trust actively engaged in mental health awareness initiatives across multiple sectors. He is also a Research Associate in the Department of Psychiatry at Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College, Mumbai. He has been involved in teaching and training undergraduate and postgraduate students in psychiatry, psychology, special education, and social work for over 20 years.
He is the Editor of the Indian Journal of Mental Health and has published more than 700 papers in national and international journals. He currently serves as Associate Editor of Global Bioethics Enquiry and Annals of Indian Psychiatry, and as Assistant Editor of the Indian Journal of Psychiatry. He is Secretary of the Indian Association of Biological Psychiatry and Vice President of the Bombay Psychiatric Society (2020–2021). He has received multiple awards for paper presentations at national and international conferences.
Komal Chavan, MD, DNB, MNAMS, FCPS, DGO, FICOG, Diploma in Reproductive Medicine (UK–SH Germany)
Dr. Komal Chavan is currently Medical Director and Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Chavan Maternity and Nursing Home, Andheri West, Mumbai. She is also attached to HBT Medical College and Dr. R. N. Cooper Municipal General Hospital, Juhu, Mumbai, as Honorary Assistant Professor.
She is presently Chairperson of the FOGSI Medical Disorders in Pregnancy Committee (2019–2021) and a member of the Managing Committee of MOGS and AFG. With more than 15 publications in national and international journals, she has a strong passion for academics and has contributed chapters to textbooks and articles to magazines. She has been honored with several awards, including the Dr. D. K. Tank Prize (2016 and 2019) and the Dr. R. D. Pandit Prize.
