While functional aspects have been added to correlate the structure of the tissue with its respective functions, applied aspects also have been elaborated to foresee the importance of histology during the clinical practice. A new chapter “Key to Identification of Histological Slides”, which would help the students in identifying the slides properly, has been added.

Prof. Gayatri Rath, MS, FAMS, FIAMS
Prof. Gayatri Rath is the former Director Professor and Head of the Department of Anatomy at VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi, and former Professor and Head at North DMC Medical College and Hindu Rao Hospital, New Delhi. She graduated from SCB Medical College, Cuttack, Odisha, in 1973 and completed her postgraduate training in anatomy at AIIMS, New Delhi, in 1981. She has been involved in undergraduate teaching and postgraduate training for several decades and has published 160 scientific papers.
She is a recipient of numerous honors, including the Silver Jubilee Research Award (BC Roy National Award Fund), Most Popular Teacher Award, Dr. H. J. Mehta Memorial Award (Gold Medal, 2001), and Dr. M. L. Pan Memorial Award (Gold Medal, 2002). She has delivered several prestigious orations, including the Dr. S. P. Jain Memorial Oration (2010), Prof. S. Hazary Memorial Oration (2012), and the General Amir Chand Oration Award. She has been a member of the Editorial Board for the Embryology Section of the Anatomical Society of India since 2013.
Mithlesh Chandra, MD, FIC Path, is former Senior Deputy Director, ICMR–National Institute of Pathology; Chairman, Pathology Consultancy Services; and CEO, Digiscon, Noida. She has been extensively involved in teaching histology and pathology to medical students, as well as oral histology and oral pathology to dental students. She is a co-author of the Textbook of Oral Histology and Oral Embryology with MCQs and the Colour Atlas of Colposcopy, Histology, and Cytology of the Lower Genital Tract.
Currently, she is deeply engaged in online education, delivering lecture and practical classroom videos in histology and pathology for students.
Krishna Garg, MS, PhD, FAMS, FIMSA, FIAMS, FASI, is former Professor and Head of the Department of Anatomy at Lady Hardinge Medical College (LHMC), New Delhi, where she completed her MS and PhD and taught until retirement. She was elected Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences (FAMS) in 2005 and has received multiple honors, including the Excellence Award in Anatomy (2004, Delhi Medical Association), Life Time Achievement Award, Fellowship of the Anatomical Society of India, and the DMA Distinguished Services Award. She serves as visiting faculty for DNB and MDS programs and as a PhD examiner.
She is the chief editor of BD Chaurasia’s Human Anatomy (9th edition, Vols. 1–4) and editor or coauthor of several other anatomy and physiology textbooks for medical, nursing, and pharmacy students. She has published 53 scientific papers.
