Luanne Linnard-Palmer EdD, MSN, RN, CPN is a professor of pediatric nursing at Dominican University of California located just north of San Francisco in Marin County. She has been teaching in both undergraduate and graduate nursing programs for over 35 years. She currently practices as a pediatric oncology hematology RN Clinical Nurse Coordinator for Stanford Specialty Health Care in San Francisco. Her passion for teaching and clinical practice spans a 37-year career. She works closely with a diverse clinical team that includes medical assistants, licensed vocational nurses and licensed practical nurses (LVN/LPNs), physicians, medical students and interns, and advanced practice nurses. Her goal in writing this book is to provide a foundation of critical information with a focus on safety based on her clinical practice experiences.

Gloria Haile Coats MSN, RN, FNP is a professor emeritus of maternity and pediatric nursing at Modesto Junior College in Modesto, California. She has a diploma from Burge School of Nursing in Springfield, Missouri; a BSN from California State University, Stanislaus; an MSN from California State University, Dominquez Hills; and a Post-Master's Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate from Sonoma State University. She has experience in the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing education and curriculum. Her expertise in nursing education in both the classroom and clinical setting has enabled her to take difficult concepts of nursing education and make them understandable for nursing students.
