Gloria Haile Coats
Gloria Haile Coats MSN, RN, FNP is a professor emeritus of maternity and pediatric nursing at
Modesto Junior College in Modesto, California. She has a diploma from Burge School of Nursing in
Springfield, Missouri; a BSN from California State University, Stanislaus; an MSN from California
State University, Dominquez Hills; and a Post-Master's Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate from
Sonoma State University. She has experience in the development, implementation, and
evaluation of nursing education and curriculum. Her expertise in nursing education in both the
classroom and clinical setting has enabled her to take difficult concepts of nursing education and make them
understandable for nursing students. She understands the time constraints in nursing education, and her goal
for this book is to provide the essential need-to-know information for nurses to provide safe and effective
maternity and pediatric care.
