This book encompasses
the knowledge and experiences of the best robotic surgeons in India who have
also incorporated the recent advances and updates in gynecological surgery. It
is a complete guide in robotic gynecologic procedures, including in-depth knowledge
on robot working and ergonomics for helping the budding surgeons in their
transition to robotic surgery. It will also help the seasoned robotic surgeons
to enrich their surgical skills and expand their skills in robotic procedures.
The descriptive, step-wise text includes figures and intraoperative photographs
detailing the nuances of each procedure. It lays emphasis on the needs and
surgical techniques for both the primary surgeons as well as the operative
assistants.
This manual provides insights into robotic gynecologic
surgery and would help in reducing the learning curve for these increasingly
popular procedures.
Richa Sharma, MS, MNAMS, FICOG, FICMCH, CIMPFMAS, FRM, is currently serving as Director-Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at University College of Medical Sciences and the associated Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital, Delhi.
An accomplished gynecologic endoscopic and robotic surgeon, she has pursued fellowships in reproductive medicine and minimally invasive gynecological surgery. She served as Chairperson, AOGD Endoscopy Committee, Delhi (2018–2021), and is currently Chairperson, Medical Termination of Pregnancy Committee (2021–2025) of the Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI). She has also served as National Corresponding Editor of the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of India (JOGI) from 2021 to 2024.
She has edited two books—Stepwise Access to Hysteroscopy and Intrauterine Adhesions (Asherman’s Syndrome): Overview and Hysteroscopy. She has to her credit several research publications in national and international journals and has presented research papers and posters at numerous national and international conferences.
She is the recipient of several prestigious awards, including the FOGSI Corion Award (Junior Category, 2015; Senior Category, 2023), the FOGSI-IPAS Young Talent Promotion and MTP Committee Award (2016), and the FOGSI Late Dr. Pravin Mehta Training Fellowship in Laparoscopy Award (2017).
Bijoy Kumar Nayak, MD, is currently serving as Head of the Department of Gynecology Endoscopy and Robotic Surgery at Max Hospital, Dwarka, Delhi, and is the former Head of the Department of Gynecology Endoscopy and Robotic Surgery at Manipal Hospital, Dwarka, Delhi. He previously served as Chairperson of the FOGSI Endoscopy Committee from 2016 to 2018.
He has 35 years of professional experience and has published several research papers, book chapters, and newsletters. He is the recipient of numerous awards and honors in recognition of his contributions to the field.
Anuradha Panda, MD, is currently serving as Senior Consultant at Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad. She completed her MBBS at MKCG Medical College and her MD at Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital, Mumbai. She received advanced training in laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery at the Ethicon Institute, Cincinnati, USA, and pursued a fellowship at Wayne State University, Detroit. She began performing robotic surgery in 2012 at Apollo Hospital after training at the Vattikuti Institute.
She has played a significant role in advancing surgical techniques and has co-organized numerous workshops in laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, urogynecology, and robotic surgery. She also serves as a mentor for the MIS and Robotic Surgery Fellowship (AHERF) at Apollo Hospital, Hyderabad, contributing to the training and development of future surgeons in these specialized fields. Her work has been recognized through publications in several peer-reviewed journals.
