G.C. Banerjee graduated in 1956 in Agriculture from the University of Agra and subsequently obtained his Master’s degree in Animal Science from the same university. Following this, he spent two years as an Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) Fellow at the National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal, conducting research in Microbiology. He then proceeded to Cornell University, Ithaca, USA, with a fellowship, where he completed his PhD in 1970, majoring in Animal Nutrition with minors in Physiology and Biochemistry. Dr. Banerjee has nearly two decades of experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching at the University of Kalyani and Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya (Agricultural University). He served as Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences for about two years and as Dean of Postgraduate Studies for approximately a decade.
