S Vertivel Chezian
S Vetrivel Chezian MBBS, DOrtho, MS Orthopaedics, FRCS, PhD is currently Director and Professor, Institute of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, Coimbatore. He is a member of Board of Research in the Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University.
He completed his MBBS and Diploma in Orthopaedics from Stanley Medical College, Chennai, and MS in Orthopaedics from Madras Medical College, Chennai.
He was awarded Doctor of Philosophy by Bharathiar University, Tamil Nadu. He has been in orthopaedic education for more than three decades.
He was honored with FRCS by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow. He formulated Vetrivel Trauma Score to predict the viability of the injured limb in Grade IIIB and Grade INC fractures. He was awarded gold medal for his innovation in calcaneal fracture management. He has been bestowed upon Tamil Nadu Scientist Award and Best Doctor Award by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
