Amita Aggarwal
Amit Aggarwal, MD, DM,
is Professor and Head of the Department of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. She is an alumnus of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, and was among the first in India to obtain a DM in Clinical Immunology. She received advanced training in immunology and rheumatology at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Melbourne; the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Atlanta; and the University of Oklahoma Hospital, USA.
Her primary research interests include juvenile arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). She has published over 300 research papers, edited a book on pediatric rheumatology, and authored numerous book chapters. She established a multi-institutional SLE network in India.
