Dr. D. R. Singh is Emeritus Professor in the Department of Anatomy at King George's Medical College (now King George's Medical University), Lucknow, and is a renowned anatomist in India. He began his career at this institution as a Demonstrator and progressed through the ranks of Lecturer and Reader (1965–1990), eventually becoming Head of the Department. He has served as a visiting professor at several medical and dental colleges across India. In 1999, on deputation from the Government of India, he joined BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan, Nepal, as Professor and Head of the Department of Anatomy.
Dr. Singh combines meticulous teaching with distinguished research. He has been awarded the Dr. Dharam Narayan Memorial and Dr. Mahdi Hasan Gold Medals by the Anatomical Society of India in 1979 and 1998, respectively. He has 33 original publications in indexed national and international journals with nearly 50 citations, four international scientific presentations, six published books, and two books in press. In 1997, the Medical Council of India honored him with the Hari Om Ashram Alembic Research Award in Basic Medical Sciences for his outstanding contributions to anatomy.
