Avinash Kaur Rana is a graduate in Nursing from Punjabi University, Patiala, and holds an M.Sc. (Nursing) and Ph.D. from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. She is a former Lecturer at the National Institute of Nursing Education (NINE), PGIMER, Chandigarh, India.
She has extensive teaching experience, having served as Sister Tutor (1985–2016), Clinical Instructor (1985–1999), and Lecturer (2000–2019). She received a Meritorious Award in 1976 for Best Clinical Performance in the Labour Room, PGIMER, Chandigarh. She was also awarded a WHO Fellowship from July to August 2005 to attend a course on Community Health Care and Research at Khon Kaen University, Thailand.
She is a member of various national scientific bodies and is an accomplished writer, with several articles and book chapters published in reputed journals and books. In addition, she has organized numerous workshops and courses on Nursing Management, served as an external examiner for various universities, and presented scientific papers at both national and international levels. After her retirement, she worked as Professor-cum-Principal in several private nursing colleges.
