This book has been designed to facilitate systematic, competency-based learning in accordance with the principles of the Competency Based Medical Education (CBME) curriculum for the Indian Medical Graduate. It provides a structured record of the learner's academic progress and participation in a wide range of learning activities throughout the year.
The logbook incorporates activities such as home assignments, seminars, museum study, histology, continuous class tests, gross anatomy skills and part-completion assessments, AETCOM competencies, skill-laboratory and virtual dissection activities, research, reflections and early clinical exposure. These components are intended not merely to assess knowledge, but also to promote clinical skills, communication, professionalism, self-directed learning, critical thinking and reflective practice.
Particular emphasis has been placed on learning through dissection and respect for the cadaver as a teacher. The dissection hall provides a unique opportunity to appreciate three-dimensional relationships and anatomical variations while cultivating professionalism, empathy, discipline and respect for the human body. The logbook, therefore, encourages students to document their observations, experiences and reflections as an integral part of their anatomical education.
The inclusion of surface marking, radiology, virtual dissection and skill-laboratory activities aims to bridge the gap between traditional anatomical learning and contemporary clinical practice.
Similarly, research activities and reflective exercises encourage students to develop scientific curiosity and lifelong learning skills.
This logbook is intended to serve as both a record of continuous assessment and a personal learning portfolio. Students are assessed and are graded based on their performance according to MUHS guidelines. It will make learning of anatomy structured, reflective, clinically relevant and professionally enriching, while helping students develop into competent, compassionate and scientifically oriented medical graduates.
