This book has been prepared as a structured and student-oriented guide in accordance with the competency-based curriculum and NMC guidelines. It brings together the essential components of the undergraduate anatomy curriculum and provides students with a systematic framework for learning throughout the academic year.
Anatomy is best learned through active participation and observation. Students are encouraged to make full use of dissection, prosection, histology, surface anatomy, radiological anatomy, demonstrations, tutorials, seminars and self-directed learning. This handbook is intended to serve as a roadmap for learning alongside standard textbooks, atlases, dissection manuals and other recommended learning resources.
The study of anatomy also carries an important ethical dimension. The cadaver is our first teacher and every student must approach the donor body with respect, dignity, professionalism and gratitude. The values developed during anatomical learning—respect, responsibility, teamwork and professional conduct—are integral to becoming a compassionate physician.
The handbook will guide the students through their first year of MBBS with clarity and confidence, encourage curiosity and self-directed learning, and help them establish a strong foundation for their future clinical education and practice.
This book has been written, compiled and presented by the senior faculty of Department of Anatomy, Armed Forces Medical College. Pune.
