Narendra Rungta, MD, FCCM, FICCM, is a distinguished critical care physician and past President of the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM). He was the founding President of the Association of SAARC Critical Care Societies and served as National Chairman of the Intensive Care Chapter of ISCCM. A committed teacher and author, he has chaired several ISCCM guideline committees, including ICU Planning and Designing, Tropical Fever in ICU, and Toxicology Guidelines. He has served as Chief Editor of Critical Care and the Compendium on Sepsis. Renowned for his contributions to critical care in India and the SAARC region, he coined the slogan “Let’s Work for Zero Tolerance for Mortality in Poisoning” and delivered the past Presidents’ oration on this topic at Criticare 2017, Kochi.
