BN Chakravarty
BN Chakravarty, MO (Cal), FRCOG (Lond), DSc (Hon), founder-director of the Institute of Reproductive Medicine (IRM), Kolkata, was a renowned gynaecologist, obstetrician, reconstructive surgeon, researcher, and an exceptional teacher known for his conceptual style of teaching. He received numerous honours, including the Coates Gold Medal, Mother Teresa Millennium Award, Eminent Teacher Award, Barclay Medal, and honorary fellowship of the Asiatic Society. He was the first Indian and second Asian to receive honorary membership of the International Federation of Fertility Societies. He was also honoured with Lifetime Achievement Awards by ISAR (2006) and ACE (2014).
