B Balaguru
B Balaguru MSc, PhD is currently Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, Jamal
Mohamed College, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. He specialises in applied ecology. He
has more than 22 years of research and 15 years of teaching experience. With his
assistance, VAANGHAI, an agri-based NGO, with funding from PPV & FRA, ICAR
registered six rice varieties under the Plant Breeders' Act on behalf of farmers of Tamil Nadu. He is
also working on the documentation of traditional knowledge and grassroot innovations in Tamil
Nadu supported by the National Innovation Foundation, an autonomous body under the
Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. He has been a recipient of
research project grants of above 60 lakhs from government funding agencies like SERB-DST, NIFDST, MOES and TNSCST. He has to his credit over 55 research articles published in reputed
journals, 10 book chapters and 4 manuals. His research interests include remote sensing and
