Clinical laboratory is responsible for analysing patient specimens in the diagnosis of disease and to evaluate the effectiveness of therapy and thus Chapter 10 deals with clinical laboratory instrumentation. Chapter 11 focuses on the hearing aids. Section II is devoted to modern medical imaging systems as computers now provide a new means for storing processing transferring and displaying images. Section III focuses on therapeutic equipment like electric stimulators used in patient care and research. Section IV focuses on special topics such as medical procedures that usually expose the patient to more hazards than the typical home or work place and the sources include air water chemicals drugs microorganisms noise electricity radiation from X-ray ultrasound microwaves and lasers etc. Glossary at the end of the text provides a quick reference to the reader.
