Since its discover a century ago, superconductivity has been the subject of intense research; in recent years, scientists have been exploring the many possible applications of this phenomena. "Superconductivity" draws on many years of theoretical and experimental research by expert scientists around the world to provide an impressive insight into the current state of the art and to illustrate some of the potential applications of superconductivity. It is divided thematically into four parts. The first considers superconducting magnet technology and applications. The second considers the properties, technology and applications of superconductors. Topics include superconductivity in nanoscale systems and the measurement of levitation forces in high-temperature superconductors. The third part considers the theory and applications of superconductivity, discussing, for example, the development of the Josephson voltage standards. The fourth part considers applications of high-Tc superconductivity, a fast-developing area of research. Topics include an overview of possible applications of high Tc superconductors, superconductivity application in power systems and the superconducting properties of graphene doped magnesium diboride.
