Photosynthesis is a two-volume set covering both the theoretical and fundamental principles of photosynthesis and the practical and applied aspects of photosynthesis in experimental contexts. New approaches in artificial photosynthesis and innovative techniques for studying photosynthesis are extensively considered, giving readers an up-to-date picture of the state of the field. Photosynthesis is examined from a range of disciplinary perspectives; some of the theoretical topics include aquatic photosynthesis, photoacoustics, oxygenic photosynthesis, the effects of stress factors on photosynthesis, the use of EPR spectroscopy to study photosynthesis and photosynthesis of microalgae. Some of the applied aspects considered include acid metabolism in orchids and photosynthesis in symbiotic invertebrates. New developments in artificial photosynthesis are explored in detail: for example, the enhancement of photosynthesis by fluctuating light and photosynthesis in extreme environments. Emerging approaches to the study of photosynthesis, such as the use of the delayed fluorescence technique, the study of photomorphogenic signals and the examination of photorelocation are also well represented. Photosynthesis is a fundamental process studied across the scientific disciplines, and these volumes provide a rich resource for students, graduate students and advanced researchers alike.
