Electrochemical science is a broad field covering theoretical and applied electrochemistry, electrochemical energy conversion and storage, corrosion science, sensor technology and electrochemical engineering. It is an important topic, not least because it encompasses the search for sustainable fuel technology.
This book consists of three sections bringing together some of the latest ideas and research in electrochemical science. Subjects discussed include: photoelectrocatalysis (and its applications in pollution control and semiconductor manufacture); electrochemical detection of arsenic contamination in environmental samples; improvements in the efficiency and fabrication of electrochemical fuel cells; the applications of nano- and electrochemistry in medicine (e.g. for in vivo diagnostic biosensors); and carbon nanostructures and their use in electrochemical analysis for detection of various inorganic and organic species.
