The faculty from other divisions and departments at the institute, along with the current and former fellows of the neonatology division, have helped the editors finalize the protocols. Not surprisingly, the previous two editions of the book received rave reviews, accolades and recognition from the residents, fellows, faculty, and practitioners in India, South East Asia, and other parts of the world. The third edition of the compendium is a considerable revision of the previous edition highlighting Addition of 39 new protocols, taking the total count to 106 protocols. Critically reviewed and updated old protocols based on emerging evidence and recommendations from WHO and other international agencies. Organization of the protocols into two distinct books for the convenience of the readers: Core Protocols that address common neonatal conditions (Volumes 1 and 2) and Additional protocols that guide the management of extremely preterm and other critically ill newborns in the NICU. This edition should enable pediatric residents and healthcare providers to practice evidence-based medicine in the NICU and improve newborn care across India, SEA region, and the world beyond.
