Increasing industrial development around the world in recent decades has meant that air pollution has become a major area of study. The complex and extremely diverse nature of pollution means that its exact consequences and impacts on human health, the environment, and socioeconomic factors are not fully known. This book seeks to bring cutting-edge research from around the globe together to provide an up-to-date, meticulously researched picture. In the first part, indoor and outdoor pollution is considered, and topics such as modelling for particulate emissions prediction and the effects of indoor air quality in medical facilities are examined. In the second part, approaches to modelling and control are presented. Topics include remote sensing of particle pollution and photo-acoustic measurement. In part three, models for particular applications are reviewed, such as for the analysis of black cloud dynamics in Egypt. In part four, topics in chemistry, emission control, radioactive pollution and indoor air quality are considered; subjects include an analysis of methods to improve air quality, and distributed smart sensing monitoring systems. Finally, part five considers monitoring, assessment and management. Contributors explore topics including remote sensing instruments for monitoring, and fuzzy based decision-making systems for urban air quality monitoring.
