As the climate becomes more volatile, it is increasingly necessary to understand the effects of abiotic stress on plants, especially in order to develop better adapted crops and more sustainable crop management practices. This is the second volume in the two-volume set, Abiotic Stress in Plants, which seeks to bring together up-to-date research in the field. The key areas of focus across the volumes include: the effects and management of abiotic stress factors, such as extreme temperature, drought, water saturation and high UV levels, in agricultural settings; the relationships between plants and environmental factors more generally; plant mechanisms and adaptations for dealing with abiotic stressors such as salt stress, fluctuations in mineral availability, heat and water; the genetics of breeding stress resistant and adaptable plants; and the physiological and biochemical aspects of abiotic stress response, drawing on the insights of new advances in genetics, genomics and genetic technologies. The volumes collect high-quality, international research and will be valuable to environmental and plant scientists both in academia and in food production contexts.
