This is the thoroughly revised and updated edition of the popular book now incorporating India's ranking on Human Development Index for 2022 by UNDP. Revised integrated disease surveillance programme which stands integrated with integrated health information platform (IHIP) for daily transmission of data with enlarged spectrum of disease conditions is incorporated to capture outbreaks at the earliest. New short term BPaLM 6 months all oral regimen for MDR/RRTB management with success rate of 89% and most cost-effective is another significant inclusion. Concept of zerodose and under-vaccinated children and some new vaccines is an added component. Revised dietary guidelines by ICMR-NIN expert committee issued in 2024 for risk reduction to prevent and manage life-style diseases, healthcare financing in India and National Health Accounts of 2021–22 and block level public health units, Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) with FC-XV financial support have been included in this edition.

Vikas BDS.MDS is currently Professor and Head, Department of Orthodontics, JN Kapoor DAV (C) Dental College, Yamunanagar, Haryana. He completed his BDS from Manipal College of Dental Sciences (Manipal Academy of Higher Education), Mangalore, and then pursued his MDS in orthodontics from the same institute. He has been the recipient of prestigious TMA Pai Gold Medal for being the best outgoing student for 2000 and was also awarded the 'student plaque' by International College of Dentists. He is a recognized undergraduate and postgraduate teacher and has guided postgraduate students for over 20 years and is actively involved in teaching, training and research. He is a reviewer for the prestigious American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. He has published 10 papers in national and 7 papers in international peer-reviewed journals and is regularly presenting scientific papers in the national conferences. He is on the panel of examiners for various universities.

Sunder Lal, MBBS, DPH, MD Former Professor and Head, Department of Social and Preventive Medicine, Pt. BD Sharma Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Rohtak, Haryana Dr. Sunder Lal is an eminent public health expert with over 50 years of experience in teaching, training, and research in community medicine. He served as an ICDS consultant for 25 years and was the honorary chief editor of the Indian Journal of Community Medicine. Dr.Lal was also the Secretary-General of the Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSM) for 9 years and is a Fellow of IAPSM. He has published the Textbook of Community Medicine: Preventive and Social Medicine and over 190 research papers in national and international journals. He retired as Deputy Director-General (Medical), TA, with a meritorious service award. Dr. Lai has received several prestigious awards, including the Dhanwantari Oration Award and the Amrut Mody Unichem Prize for outstanding research on maternal and child health. He was President of IAPSM in 2010-11.
