Today, there is renewed interest in nuclear power as a technology for meeting the challenges of climate change. New research is continually being undertaken to improve existing technologies and minimize the risk of accidents. This book focuses on current developments in the operation and safety of nuclear power plants, providing readers in both academic and industrial contexts with a clear picture of the field today, as well as pointing towards new developments in the future. The first part of the book covers issues of operation, safety and the environment.
