This book has been designed for students of BE|BTech (VLSI) courses and all beginners learning VHDL and Verilog. The main objective of this book is to explore the basic concepts of popular and industry standard hardware description languages (HDLs) VHDL and Verilog with simple programming examples and test benches.
The vast programming concepts of HDLs have been presented in a crisp manner, suitable for undergraduate students. Considerable effort has been made to elucidate VHDL and Verilog programming concepts in a step-by-step manner. With its lucid writing style and germane pedagogical features, it will prove to be a master textbook for engineering students.
The text of this book is organized in three chapters. Chapter 1 provides a simple introduction to digital system design, history of HDL and list of IDE tools available for FPGA based digital system design. In Chapter 2 the basic VHDL programming language constructs are presented with examples. Chapter 2 includes 51 VHDL programs and in this last 20 programs are supported with test benches. Chapter 3 presents the basic Verilog programming language constructs with examples, includes 46 Verilog programs and in this last 17 programs are supported with test benches.
