The book aims to meet the demands of undergraduate and postgraduate students of pharmacy, as well as other related streams, who opt for drug design as one of the elective subjects. The highlights of the book include two chapters on 'QSAR' and 'Molecular Modelling'. The text is presented in the following nineteen chapters covering all the important topics under drug design.
Prof. Balkishen Razdan, Ph.D.
Prof. Balkishen Razdan has been a prominent figure in pharmaceutical education for over four decades. He served on the faculty of the Department of Pharmacy at Birla College of Science, Pharmacy and Commerce—now Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), his alma mater—for 14 years. Following his postdoctoral studies at the Institute for Biochemie München, Germany, as a Max-Planck Fellow, he joined Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), Mesra, Ranchi. At BIT, he played a key role in upgrading the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and introducing postgraduate and research programs. He retired in 1998 as Dean of Postgraduate Studies and Research and Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
After his retirement from BIT, Prof. Razdan joined Sardar Bhagwan Singh Postgraduate Institute of Biomedical Sciences and Research, Balawala, Dehradun, as Additional Director and Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, ultimately retiring as Director in January 2009.
