The Indian Evidence Act (IEA) is a legislation that governs the admissibility, relevancy, and weight of evidence in Indian courts. It was enacted in 1872 and has undergone several amendments since then. The Act provides guidelines for the presentation and evaluation of evidence during the trial of civil and criminal cases.

There are 11 chapters further divided into 167 sections fulfilling the strong need to have a book exclusively on this topic so as to discuss all the sections of IEA in brief.
