This book covers history, physical examination of heart and ECG findings of common clinical cardiac problems and related emergencies, especially cardiac arrhythmias. It will be a useful bedside guide for MD (med) residents and cardiology residents in their initial part of their training. Clinical cardiology is nowadays a neglected subject as the medical students are not taught the scientific approach to clinical cardiac examination of patients. Pathogenesis of most of the symptoms and correct interpretation of all signs is explained in simple language so that students understand it well. ECG recording is a bedside procedure done in almost all cardiac cases. ECG electrogenesis in relation to the leads is explained ECGs of IHD (ischaemic heart disease) is discussed in detail. Its correct interpretation is important for all young and old physicians and cardiologists.
IHD, being a very common disease starting at younger age in India (South Asia), cannot be diagnosed without ECG. ECGs of all types of angina pectoris depicting abnormal findings are displayed. Myocardial infractions in different cardiac areas are shown, and ECG findings are correlated with affected MI areas of heart in a table format. Finally, the MI affected cardiac regions, ECG changes and site of coronary artery obstruction are tabulated in an Appendix so that interventional cardiologist before starting procedure should have clear idea of obstruction site of coronary artery. Management of cardiac arrest is discussed in bit details so that more lives can be saved. Peripheral artery disease covered briefly with many illustrations.
