Plant Diseases The updated ninth edition includes up-to-date references. Although the book mainly describes diseases of field crops, a number of vegetable crop diseases is also included.
A major addition to the text is inclusion of biological control measures for most diseases and expansion of the information about phanerogamic plant parasites. Appended list of references at end of each chapter is exhaustive and may be of use to those pursuing research on specific diseases.
RS Singh was engaged in teaching and research in plant pathology since 1948 till 1989. During those 4 decades he had published about 200 research papers, and in addition to this title, many other books including Introduction to Principles of Plant Pathology, Plant Pathogens-The Fungi, Plant Pathogens-The Nematodes, Plant Pathogens-The Prokaryotes, and Diseases of Vegetable Crops. He co-edited two books Conceptual and Experimental Plant Pathology and Handbook of Economic Nematology. After his retirement from active University service at Pantnagar in 1989, Dr Singh continued work on his books presenting new editions of Plant Diseases, Principles of Plant Pathology and Diseases of Vegetable Crops. In addition he wrote and published two new titles: Diseases of Fruit Crops and Plant Disease Management. Dr Singh had been President of the Indian Phytopathological Society and Indian Society of Mycology and Plant Pathology. He is honorary fellow of the Indian Phytopathological Society.
