Ayillath Venugopalan Nambiar, Formerly Professor, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Kerala Agricultural University, Mannuthy, Kerala, was teaching veterinary surgery for more than two decades. He graduated from the Madras Veterinary College in 1952 and qualified for his Master's degree in Veterinary Surgery from Kansas State University (USA) in 1962. Dr. Venugopalan joined the Madras State Service as a Veterinary Surgeon in 1952 when it comprised the present state of Tamil Nadu, parts of Andhra Pradesh, and parts of Kerala. He had vast professional experience and is familiar with the field problems encountered in India. He worked as Lecturer in Veterinary Surgery in the Veterinary College, Mannuthy, from July 1958 and was later appointed as Professor of Surgery in 1964; from 1978 onwards he was also functioning as the Professor (Research Coordination) of the Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Kerala Agricultural University.
