The second edition of Feeds and Principles of Animal Nutrition (formerly titled Animal Nutrition) is an important standard work designed to serve as a text for students, researchers, teachers and specialists who need a comprehensive introduction to animal feeds and fundamental principles of animal nutrition.
This voluminous edition is unique not only in the Asian continent but also in many other continents in regard to collection of latest scientific information on the subject which has emerged during the last ten years, since the publication of the first edition in 1978.
This book presents the principles of animal husbandry in a manner which is both simple and classified, so that students equipped with a basic knowledge of mathematics, chemistry and physics can reasonably handle and grasp the ideas conveyed.
The text is divided into two main sections. The first part presents materials exclusively related to animal feeds. There are eleven chapters where-topics on Poisonous plants; Identifying feeds from their composition; Animal feed preparation and processing; Anti-nutritive factors in animal feeds are all new inclusions.
The second section establishes the fundamentals on the principles of animal nutrition. There are 13 chapters covering Metabolism of feed nutrients; Methods to find out nutritive equirements for body processes and productive functions; Nutritional and metabolic disorders of livestock; Laboratory animal diets.
There are three other highlights: the glossary containing about 500 technical terms related to the subject; Tables on the nutritive values of large number of animal feeds along with latest reports (1985) on the nutritive requirements of livestock and poultry; and informative photographs, diagrams and illustrations.
