A set of short explanations of some of the OSI applications have also been included The ISO standards are referenced as ISO nnnn rather than the more familiar IS or DIS nnnn. The terms from the fields and disciplines that impinge upon or overlap with Information Technology have also been included. The authors have tried to strike a balance between the need to include the most important terms that technologists are liable to encounter and making a mistake of trying to compete with specialized books.
